Pawsitive Beginnings is an animal sanctuary with a mission to provide safety and shelter for foxes rescued from the fur trade. Because these foxes spend their lives on a farm, they are not able to thrive in the wild and must be provided care in captivity. However, the goal of this organization is to make their environment safe, comfortable and supportive.
A Protected Haven for Survivors 
The founder of Pawsitive Beginnings is Nicole Navarro, a seasoned animal rescue volunteer who recognized the need for dedicated sanctuaries that provide a lifelong home for foxes rescued from fur farms. Navarro made that vision a reality when she established Pawsitive Beginnings, Inc. in March 2020. Since then, dozens of rescued foxes have called Key Largo home in a haven where they can heal. And not only do they heal, but they also thrive and inspire change.
The original goal of the fox sanctuary has recently expanded to include animal-assisted therapy for children and women living in shelters to escape abuse themselves. Though these foxes are not trained to directly provide comfort, as many animals are, people find inspiration in their stories of survival. They are the perfect example of how to move beyond a bad experience and begin to enjoy life again.
“(We’ve) tapped into a whole new level of raising awareness,” said Navarro. “That these animals are worth so much more than the fur on their backs.”
How We Support Animal Sanctuaries Through Public Relations
